In 1976 the federal
government mandated the term "manufactured
homes" making the term "mobile homes" obsolete.
All homes built after 1976
must comply with federal standards, which
regulate durability, materials, systems, wind
safety, fire safety, energy efficiency and
more.
Even though the current manufactured homes are
still mobile (able to move), their proper name
is now "manufactured homes". |
